Chagrin Falls, OH may probably be named after something else if not for the cascading falls found in the town’s epicenter. But other than the lovely waterfall, Chagrin Falls still has other worthwhile outdoor destinations to visit. Some of these great places for visiting are just outside the town’s borders.

- Chagrin Falls waterfalls
We already mentioned this captivating attraction, but it deserves one more special mention as the primary go-to place in the area for touching base with nature. You don’t even have to go far to appreciate its beauty – just walk over to the Main Street bridge for a top view or to the boardwalk for a close-up view. The waterfalls are especially mesmerizing in autumn when multi-colored foliage envelops the area for an enchanting backdrop.
While in Chagrin Falls, take the time to explore its small-town charms. For a taste of arts and culture, head to the historic Chagrin Valley Little Theater or the Valley Art Center. You can also learn about the area’s history at the Chagrin Historical Society. If shopping what you’re looking for, the streets of Main and Franklin are lined with several clothing stores and restaurants.
- Frohring Meadows
Take to the prairies and lush woodlands of Frohring Meadows to make a personal connection with nature. Located in the Geauga Park District, this 298-acre park features a diverse set of wildlife. Here, you will see several species of amphibians, migrating birds, and various insects. There is even a butterfly garden, as well as former farm fields that have been repurposed to become special habitat creation venues.
Frohring Meadows also provides accessible trails for walking, hiking, and running. These are the 2.8-mile Big Bluestem Trail and the 0.7-mile Dragonfly Trail.
- Beartown Lakes Reservation
This 149-acre park in the Geauga Park District features a treasure trove of natural wonders. It is covered by approximately 70 acres of beech-maple forest land and 22 acres of interconnecting lakes and ponds. Walk around and you will come across several species of deer, turtles, birds, and other animals. It has 2.8 miles of nature trails and recreational facilities like a playground, horseshoe pits, and bocce courts.
- North Chagrin Reservation
Explore gorgeous nature trails, see diverse wildlife, and visit historical attractions in this 2,140-acre nature preserve. One of its most popular attractions is A.B. Williams Memorial Wood, a dense forest of 300- to 400-year old beech trees, sugar maples, and other native species. You can also stop by Buttermilk Falls to see the result of over 100 million years of geologic forces at work. If you’re a golfer, you have to play a game or two at the 18-hole Manakiki Golf Course. There is also the historic Squire’s Castle, a beautiful 1890s gatehouse inspired by German and English baronial castles.
